I'Ve Always Lived In States Where You Don'T Have To Have A Vehicle Inspected To Register It. But Now I'M In North Carolina, And Working On An '88 Cadillac Deville. I'Ve Had No Problems Driving The Vehicle, But It Does Have A Cracked Windshield. The Cracks Are In The Middle And Do Not Impede The Drivers Vision. Also, The Brakes Work, But The Brake Warning Light Is On. Will Either Of These Factors Cause It To Fail The Inspection? And What Happens If I Take It To The Inspection And It Fails? Am I Not Allowed To Drive The Vehicle Out Of There?

Needs Two Front Tires (Back Tires Are New), Brake Shoes And Rotors All The Way Around, 2 New Tie Rod Ends On The Front And An Alignment, A New Sway Bar On The Right Front, New Ac Kit, And A Timing Chain Cover Gasket (Drips Oil Onto Exhaust Manifold And Smokes Up).

~19-25Mpg (Low In The Winter But About 21Mpg In City During Summer)
This Car Was Given To Me By My Father-In-Law Who Bought It At A Dealer-Car Discount. It Started With High Miles And, Assumedly, Most Miles Are Highway Miles.
Needs New Alternator Sometime In The Near Future (I Can Get One For About $50 From A Mechanic Friend But It Currently Runs Just Fine), 2 New Tie Rods On The Front And An Alignment, 2 New Tires On The Front (Back Tires Are New), New Ac Kit, 2 Rear Window Motors, Maybe A New Wheel Berring/Cv Joint To Get Rid Of Some Shaking On The Right Side, Maybe New Shocks For Rear, And Possibly Some Work On The Steering Or Transmission From Where There'S A Faint Knocking Noise When Changing Gears, And Maybe Some Valve Cover Gaskets To Repair Some Oil Leaks That Cause A Little Smoking.
Neither Car Is Currently In Major Disrepair, But They Both Need A Little Work Here And There And Neither Has Ac. Both Need About The Same Kinda Work But One Is Older With Fewer Miles And One Is Newer With Higher Miles (Albiet Highway Miles). With New Front Tires On The Sable And A New Alternator On The Bonneville, I Would Trust Either Car To Take Me On A 500Mi Round Trip With No Problems. However I Don'T Need 2 Cars. I Do Need One About The Same Size As The Sable/Bonneville But Preferably With Working Ac And No Issues.
So What Do You Think? Sell The Sable To Fix The Bonneville? Sell The Bonneville To Fix The Sable? Or, Sell Both To Buy A Good, Used Sedan With Few Issues? Could I Actually Sell Them For A Price That Would Allow Me To Purchase A Used Car With No Issues?

Window Won't Go Down But The Motor Seems To Work?
I Noticed This Problem Last Sunday.
Last Saturday It Worked Because I Left All 4 Windows Down While Driving. On Sunday I Drove In The Rain, So All My Windows Were Up.
The Next Day On A Clear Day I Put My Windows Down And Noticed The Left Rear Window Won't Go Down But I Can Hear The Normal 'Shoosh' Sound Like The Motor Works But It Won't Slide Down. I Put My Hand Against The Window To Push Down And It Went Down (Because I Had Already Push The Buttom Down So It Allowed The Window To Be Opened) When I Pushed The Buttom Up To Go Up, It Goes Up.
To Make Sure My Window Can't Be Slided Down With Hand By Carjackers, I First Tried By Using My Hand To Slide Down, It Won't Go Down. So It Seems Like The Motor Works
When I Pressed The Bottom To Go Up, It Goes Up But It Won't Go Down When Pressed Down.
