Here are some differences between truck glass issues vs. automobile glass issues.

  • Experienced big rig truck drivers recognize that they should not trail other big rigs too closely in bad road conditions. This reduces the likelihood of rocks kicking up.
  • Prevention is important and truck drivers understand that. Therefore, they normally park in secure areas.
  • Your big rig windshield cracks or chips are repaired immediately.

Semi truck drivers and big rig truck drivers will hold commercial insurance. Commercial truck insurance policies will have different levels of tolerable equipment conditions than typical car insurance policies. In order to adhere to higher insurance criteria, truck drivers must get their glass fixed when they experience an issue. Click for Windshields information.

The fabrication of a truck's windshield glass is a little bit of heavier duty than a car. Don't let that fool you. While the glass may be tougher, trucks spend more time on the road. Because of this, they are at higher risk of getting chips and cracks in their windshield.

Windshield FAQ

What Is The Best Store To Get Stuff To Repair House?
I'M Looking Into Buying This House But Needs Stuff Repaired Before Moving In. I Want To Know What'S The Best Store To Get Stuff Like Drywall, Installation, Wiring, Windows, Doors, And So On. I'M Doing A Full Rebuild Because The House Is Built In 1920 And I Know There'S No Installation In The Walls And Like To Have Them In To Save Money On Gas Bill And So On. I'M Located Around Follansbee, Wv And I Want To Know What'S The Best Store To Get These Stuff In A Good Deal. Yes I Know It Will Cost A Lot But It'S What I'M Going To Do. So That Way I Don'T Have To Worry About Repairs In The Future. It Will Save Me Time And Money.

So you know: not "installation." The word you want is "insulation," after the Latin word "insulae," which means island. You're trying to separate your house from the rest of the world, at least as far as heat is concerned.

The nearest Home Depot to your location is at 440 Home Dr. in Pittsburgh, 18 miles from Follansbee.

According to Lowe's website, there's a Lowe's even closer if you go the other direction to Steubenville. Watch out for rapist high school students.

My preference is for Lowe's based on experience. Prices are comparable no matter which way you go.

You could go to places like 84 Lumber which are more geared toward the contractor, but frankly service at places like that is pretty poor unless you come in with a serious pickup truck and maybe a trailer, looking like you're in the process of building a subdivision. In my experience at Lowe's if you have a question there you're likely to get an answer that gives you information you need without treating you like an idiot.

Going the consumer retail route will cost you a little more, but you can purchase in small amounts and go as your budget allows, rather than acceding to the larger contractor supplier's desire you get all your buying done at once, and incur a huge cost all at once...not to mention a huge pile of supplies you have to protect from weather, pilferage, etc.

Big project but hugely rewarding. I like those old bungalow styles, and yeah---insulation wasn't a big concern then. Good luck with it.

How Do I Fix My Windshield Problem?
Ok I'M Going To Describe This The Best That I Can, I Have An 89 Buick Park Avenue And Near The Top Part Of The Windshield In The Front Of My Car Where It Seals To Roof Of My Car, Right In The Middle It Looks Like Part Of It Has Been Chipped Off By A Rock Or Something And Everytime It Rains Part Of The Inside Roof Of My Car(Between Both Sun Visors) Gets Soak And Wet And It Starting To Grow Mold, How Can I Seal That Spot Up Not Have To Worry About The Inside Roof Of My Car Getting Soaked Any More? I Also Don'T Have A Garage To Store It In Every Time It Rains Since I Live In Apartment, So I Need Help Here!

You need to take it to a windshield replacement place and have them look at it, they might have a simple solution, or maybe the whole windshield will need replaced. A crack or chip in the glass will eventually spread, and it could be dangerous. If that crack gets larger, the windshield could come apart. Get some professional advice from a windshield place.
I can't see it, so I don't know, it might be easy to fix.

Need Help With Protege5 Rear Wiper Replacement?
I'Ve Looked At The Directions In The Book, And What Came With The Wiper, But Cannot Figure Out How To Get The Old One Off, Let Alone The New One On. Can Anyone Help? Thanks

I think this is easy...

If you wish to do it yourself, you will have to lift the arm away from the window.

On the back side of the plastic bracket, you'll see a tab to press inward.

when you press it in, slide the wiper down the arm toward the glass.

Pivot the wiper sideways and remove it from the arm by sliding it over the hook.

Just install the new wiper in reverse order and all will be OK.

Should you wish to not do it yourself, you could always:

Take the vehicle to Auto Zone, they will replace it free of charge.

Just tell them the blade was purchased at Auto Zone and you

changed your mind & want them to install it for you.

Remove it from the package prior to going to the auto Zone.

Good Luck...
