Truck Window Replacement PA 18032

Here are some differences between truck glass issues vs. automobile glass issues.

  • To avoid rocks flying into the rig's windshields, truck drivers typically allow plenty of space between their rig and the truck in front of them, especially on rough roads.
  • Avoidance is important and truck drivers understand that. For this reason, they normally park in protected areas.
  • Your big rig windshield cracks or chips are repaired immediately.

Semi truck drivers and big rig truck drivers will hold commercial insurance. Commercial truck insurance policies will have various levels of tolerable equipment conditions than typical car insurance policies. Most service vehicles must be in top shape in order to be driven, so truck drivers ought to promptly address windshield damage to make sure that they do not violate the terms of the business vehicle insurance policy. The construction of a truck's windshield glass is a little bit of heavier duty than a car. Don't let that fool you. Although the glass may be tougher, trucks spend more time on the road. Therefore, they are at increased risk of getting chips and cracks in their windshield.

Windshield FAQ

How Would I Order A Replacement Back Window For A 2010 Toyota Tacoma?
I Own A 2010 Toyota Tacoma, 2X4, Standard Cab, White, And The Right Corner Of My Sliding Glass Window Was Smashed On A Landscaping Job. I'M A New Driver And Only Recently Got Out Of High School, How Would I Go About Ordering A New Back Window For My Truck? (I Got An Estimate From An Auto-Glass Guy, $300-$400 Bucks For A New Window And $150 For Installation)

here are my thoughts when dealing with glass,
any second party vendor will be less expensive than the dealer by far. so in my mind you have two choices. local vendor or a wrecking yard.

wrecking yard tips,
this is fairly new. so finding one that has a city/county/state contract will yield the newer vehicles. it's rear glass so your prospects will be better than say a front glass. but installing it is on you.

local vendor tips,
here's what i've found, they have guaranty's for issues after install. but you have to go to them at that point. so if there's say a 20 buck sealing issue that they cover, and you have to travel up to 100 miles to go to them (and they will travel 100mi to go to you), it will cost you more to use their guaranty than having it repaired locally. so the guaranty is purdy much mute. this bit of needed info is not always voluntarily told to the buyer. so, if at all possible choose a local installer.

finding the one that costs less and provides adequate after care is up to you. i would not, in any case, buy from a vendor that ships glass to you via a third party shipper. be it from a wrecking yard or second party new glass vendor. you run a very good chance it arrives damaged.

in summary,
if you choose a vendor that has it and they will install it, make sure they are fairly local.
if you are confident in your ability to install glass, find a local government contracted wrecking yard. do not trust a vendor out of your area that has to ship it. it rarely makes it to you door intact. and then there's a fight to blame someone for recovery of funds. who's fault is it? they will fight between who packed it and who shipped it. which party damaged it is the point b4 you can get your refund.

i really can't comment on prices. those would be typical to your area.

old fart who has done this numorous times.

How Much Should I Ask For My Truck?
How Much Should I Ask For My 92 Chevy 1500 Series Truck With A Bad Transmission And A Big Dent On The Passenger Side. The Truck Has Power Windows And Doors It Is Not A 4-Wheel Drive And It Is A Double Cab Short Wheel Base.

Running and in good condition, that truck would be worth anywhere from $2000- $3500 retail depending on the mileage.

The fact that it does not run hurts the value greatly. Replacing the transmission, even with one from a scrap yard will cost you about $1000, when you consider the cost of the transmission, replacement seals, fluid and filter (which you should replace when installing a used transmission) and labor.

The body damage also is a deduction from the value. Repair of a "big dent" is going to be in the $750-$2000 range, depending on the actual damage and location.

In the current non running condition, I would not expect you to be able to get much more than $500 or so, and most likely less.

You would be better off getting the truck running and selling it after the repairs.

97' Chevy Cheyenne Truck Window Will Not Roll Up?
Its The Driver Side Window. They Are Manual. I Believe There Is A Scissor Like Contraption Inside That Makes The Window Go Up & Down And It May Have Malfunctioned. I Need To Know What The Name Of That Part Is And Where To Get It. Thanks For Any Help.

Its called a "window regulator". The parts dept. at any dealership should be able to help you out. I would suggest a Auto Body Repair shop to install it. Take it to the shop first. If they are service minded they will pull the door panel to inspect the part first in order to see what is needed.
