How is big rig windshield care different from regular care?

  • Experienced big rig truck drivers understand that they ought to not trail other big rigs too closely in bad road conditions. This reduces the possibility of rocks kicking up.
  • Semi truck drivers park in safe areas far away from natural hazards or potential vandals.
  • Your big rig windshield cracks or chips are fixed right away.

Semi truck drivers and big rig truck drivers will have commercial insurance. Commercial truck insurance policies will have different levels of acceptable equipment conditions than standard car insurance policies. To adhere to higher insurance criteria, truck drivers must get their glass fixed as quickly as they experience an issue. Click for Windshield Replacement information.

The fabrication of a truck's windshield glass is a little bit of heavier duty than a car. Don't let that fool you. Although the glass may be more durable, trucks spend more time on the road. Consequently, they are at significantly greater risk of getting chips and cracks in their windshield.

Windshield FAQ

Car Inspection And Driver Side Window Glass Problem?
My Friend'S Toyota Corolla '02 Failed In Inspection. At The Inspection Center Inspector Asked Him To Roll Down The Glass. Now This (Driver Side Windows Glass) Was Having Problem Since Last One Year. The Window Glass Will Not Roll Down Completely Or When You Want To Bring Up It Stuck In Between And After Several Trial Pressing Switch It Will Come Up After Half An Hour. The Motor Vehicle Inspector Checked All Other Things There Was No Problem Except This Windows Glass Which He Saw That Not Working. Finally He Disqualified Car Saying ' Safety Issue '. My Friend Called Toyota Dealership And Describe Problem To Fix It And They Say It Is The Sealed Motor Must Have Gone Bad And Replacing That Part And Labour Will Cost Appx - $ 450. He Also Checked With Other Auto Repair Shop And They Also Gave Similar Estimate Of $ 410. The Question Is - Is There Any Better Solution Which Is Cheaper In Cost To Fix It.

His car failed because of a broken window? Wow.
We have the same issue with our Suburban and we have been stopped at safety checks in this truck and have had to explain that the window wouldn't roll up or down reliably but we have never been told it was something that could cause the truck to fail an inspection. I would suggest he take that one further with your local police/DMV before he puts out the money. By the way, the cost to fix our 88 Suburban was only $50 bucks for the part brand new so maybe he can get the parts himself and find a less expensive person to repair.

Rocks Fell Off Of A Dump Truck And Cracked My Windshield. Their Insurance Co. Doesn'T Want To Pay. What To Do
My Husband Was Getting On I-95 And The Dump Truck Was In The Right Lane Already. Rocks Began To Fall From The Truck (In The Area That Can Unlatch). He Called Me Immediately And I Contacted The Company And The Adjuster Attempted To Insist That The Rocks Came From The Tires, Instead Of The Dumpster Part. I Would Like To Know What Rights We Have And What I Should Do. Please Help. This Is A Brand New Car And I Am Getting Ready To Travel Out Of State. I Really Don'T Want To Go Through My Own Insurance Because I Don'T Want To Have To Pay Any Thing For This. Please Help...Somebody!

File a Police report. You should have done that the day it happend and had police out to investigate. you will have to contact your insurance company most of the time they don't want to pay so they go after the other insurers company to pay for damages. Another thing if you have collision or full coverage a window replacement may be covered free of charge since you are already paying for the coverage. If there is damage to the hood a claims rep from the insurance company. Hopefully yours. Will be able to determine if it was rocks on the road or damage from rocks falling out of a truck. Rocks are common on the road and normally dont make any damage. However if the hood as well as the winshield are damaged they may be able to prove it along with you eye witness acount.

Yes file a report go down to the police station they will have the forms right at the reception window. Grab three. fill them all out give one to the Police Dept One for your insurance Company and one for their insurance company. Make a photo copy for your records.

How Do I Get Out Of A Lease With A Landlord That Is Horrible?
We Have Lived In Our Condo Since July 2011. We Have Had Multiple Things Go Wrong. Some Of These The Landlord Was Willing To Fix, While Others She Didn'T Want To Bother. She Is Constantly Getting On To Us Like We Are Her Children, And It Doesn'T Help That She Lives Downstairs. We Are Not Allowed To Open The Windows In Our Living Room Etc. Currently Our Water/ Sewer Bill Has Spiked, And Our Landlord Said She Doesn'T Know What To Do About It. There Is No Way That My Wife And I Are Working 10 Hours A Day And Still Using 3000+ Gallons Of Water In That Same Day! So Far These Are The Problems We'Ve Had: Air Conditoner Broken- Fixed Front Door Lock Knob Broken- Will Not Fix No Light In The Bedroom- We Replaced 2 Floods Toilet Broken-Fixed Mail Box Gets Water In It- Will Not Fix There Are A Ton More Things That Are Wrong...But I Think The Worst Things Are Not Being Allowed To Park My F150 In The Front Of The Condos Because It Isn'T The &Quot;Image&Quot; They Are Trying To Give Off. Also, My Truck Was Stolen Last Week From The Condo Complex. What Can I Do?

You really must read your tenant/landlord laws for your state. In general, nothing you listed here is lease breaking material.

Front door lock knob broken - Let me ask you a question. Is this really worth fighting about? How much does a front door knob cost? Write a certified letter with return receipt and request permission to replace the lock. Read your tenant/landlord laws. I know here in Texas, you can replace/repair after two notices and deduct that amount from your rent. See if your state has something similar.

Light in the bedroom - Landlords are not responsible for providing you light. You are responsible for air filter replacement and light bulb replacement UNLESS your lease specifically states the landlord will replace.

Mail box - Again, how hard is it for you to fix this yourself? Is the annoyance worth it? You don't state whether or not you have a multi-unit box or a private mailbox. If it is a multi-unit box, it is possible the landlord CANNOT fix it. In some cases, the mailboxes are property of the USPS and are maintained by the USPS. If it is a private box, write a certified letter with return receipt requesting replacement and notify the landlord if it is not remedied, you will repair and/or replace and deduct from your rent. Again, check your state's laws. You may not be entitled to deduct. If it is really SUCH a nuisance, go to your local post office and get a PO Box.

As another poster suggested, if your vehicle was stolen, it is a moot point. Condos have owner's associations. You should request a copy of the bylaws and adhere to them.
