How is big rig windshield care different from regular care?
- Semi truck drivers are trained to avoid following other big rigs that generally kick up stones on low-quality highways and roadways.
- Prevention is key and truck drivers comprehend that. Therefore, they typically park in protected areas.
- Truck drivers are professionals. The moment they do get a chip or crack in their windshields, they get it repaired right away.
Semi truck drivers and big rig truck drivers will have commercial insurance. Commercial truck insurance policies will have various levels of acceptable equipment conditions than normal car insurance policies. Whenever a truck driver notices a glass issue, they should get it dealt with promptly. This will keep their truck in excellent status with the commercial insurance policy. The glass that goes into a truck is generally a little more tough as compared with a car's glass. Although that may hold true, trucks commonly log more highway miles than cars. Therefore the probability of experiencing a glass chip or crack is much higher.

I Need To An Identify A Windshield.?
I Purchased A Storage Unit Of Omc 50'S - 70'S Boat Parts And Have Been Selling Them On Ebay For 2 Years Now, Id Switchy109. I Have Uncovered A Windshield That I Would Like To Put Up, New With One Chip Along The Edge, And I Dont Know How To List It Or What It Might Be Worth. It Would Have Been Put Into The Storage Unit In The 70'S. It Is Flat Glass, 36&Quot; Wide And 17-1/2&Quot; Tall With Two Humps On Top, Like On The Top Of A Heart. Any Ideas???
This hard to say. You may be able to just list it as a 1970's model boat windshield, boat type unknown. Then if a person need this, they will know what it is and bid.
Now, I want to explain a little about windshields. As far as worth, this will only be worth money to a person that need it and they not going to pay a lot with shipping. If, the windshield was curved (Say like the Bat-mobile for example) it may have more value. Flat Safety Glass can be bought at many sources. I had a 1954 F-100 Ford Truck years ago. The back glass was broke when I bought it. It was flat safety glass. I called around and had a magazine for this truck for parts. Everyone wanted $100 or more. A friend told me to call this local lumber company's glass shop (Windows and Doors stuff). I called and the man said; "If, it flat I can cut it, you want tinted or smoked"? I said tinted as that match the other glass. Took the old out for a pattern and he had it ready in 1 hour. Cost me $20. Same glass that come in cars! Now, had it been the curved front glass I would have had to pay the price for a replacement. Hope you understand what I say. Good Luck.
Are Brake Problems Horribly Expensive To Get Repaired?
Hi. I Have A 2006 Ford Ranger. For The Last Couple Of Weeks, Whenever I'M Driving With The Windows Down, I Can Hear A Clicking, Pinging Noise From The Right Side Of My Truck, But Only When I Drive By, Say, A Wall Or Something, Produced By Like An &Quot;Echo-Effect.&Quot; I Don'T Hear It Otherwise. Also, There Is This Obvious Grinding Noise From The Front Only When I Slow Down To A Stop. I'M Assuming I Need New Brake Shoes. I'M Going To Go In This Week And Get Them Repaired, At Like Just For Brakes, But My Question Is, How Expensive Do You All Think This Is Going To Be? They Offer A $99.88 Brakes Shoes Deal, But, I'M Worried That I'Ve Worn Something Down To Way Beyond That Brake Shoe Replacement Cost, And They'Re Going To Have To Replace Something Else That Is Going To Cost A Fortune. As I Said, My Truck Has Only Been Doing This For Like A Couple Of Weeks, So, I Hope I Haven'T Worn Something Down So Far That It'S Going To Be More Than Just The Brake Show Replacement. At Any Rate...Worst Case Scenario...How Much Do You All Think This Is Going To Cost?
If just shoes, you should be ok... if you damaged the rotors then you are looking at $400 or so depending on how much they charge you for labor. Either way changing rotors and shoes are not difficult. I would suggest finding a friend with tools and know-how and doing it with him. The noise you might be hearing could be a rock stuck in there. I had this happen to me and I took it to the car-wash and luckily it was removed by the high pressure water. Either way I would address this asap because you are only making it worse the more you drive it.
