The glass that goes into a truck is normally a little more tough as compared to a car's glass. But, if you operate a commercial truck or van, you know that the risk you will face of damage as you log a lot of highway miles is a bit more than the risk a driver of an economy car will face.

Windshield FAQ

Am I Liable For Someones Camera Stolen From My Car?
Long Story Short...A Former Friend Came To My Home And Left His Camera. (I Did Not Ask To Borrow Or Use The Camer, Nor Ask Him To Bring It Over). A Week Later He Contacted Me And Left A Message Saying I Need To Get My Camera, If You Don't Want To Talk To Me Leave It In Your Truck (I Live In An Apartment Complex- No Assigned Parking- I Have A Non-Running 2Nd Vehicle That Is Parked In The Lot) And Text Me When You Do That And I Will Come Get It. I Left The Camera In The Truck That Night- Door Unlocked And Text Him That It Was There. A Week Later He Called About The Camera. I Said, I Left It Just As You Asked... Please Leave Me Alone. He Said "I Don't Believe You" Its Not There. I Will Add Part Of The Reason I Ended Our Friendship Was He Consistantly Accused Me Of Things...For No Reason At All... And This Was Not My Boy Friend. He Is Now Sueing Me For $275 For The Camera. He Wrote On The Suite... I Believe She Has My Camera. I Believe He Is Trying To Get Money From Me. He Is Nearly 40 Years Old And Lives With A Friends Mother And Rents A Room. He Also Told Me That The Camera Was His Mothers. I Want To Know Am I Liable For This Camera Even Though I Did What He Asked. -Although I Don't Live In A Terrible Neighborhood. My Neighbors House Has Been Robbed And Vehicles Have Been Broken Into.

You'll probably be held 50% at fault for the VALUE of the camera, not the REPLACEMENT cost. You used poor judgment in leaving the camera in an unsecured location. He used poor judgment is asking you to do so.

You'll have to prove you left it there. He'll have to prove you didn't. You'll have to prove he got the camera. He'll have to prove that he didn't. Neither one of you can prove anything. The only thing that is fact is that you had the camera at some point in time.

You may be able to make a defense that when he left the camera, you and he did not create a bailment (agreement) to protect and secure the camera. If you can get him to admit that he accidentally left the camera at your house, you've got him on that point.

Legal Definition: For a bailment to be valid, the bailee (you) must have actual physical control of the property with the intent to possess it. The bailee is generally not entitled to the use of the property while it is in his possession, and a bailor (him) can demand to have the property returned to him at any time.

Ford Explorer Rear Window Defroster!?
This '03 Explorer Sits Out In The Sun And At An Elevation Of 7,000 Feet In Southern Nm The Summer Heat On The Dark Glass Is Fierce. The Rear Window Defroster Electrical Solder Connection To The Glass Has Separated On One Side. The Local Ford Dealer Says, &Quot; Can'T Be Fixed&Quot; (And Charged $20 To Say So). A Replacement Back Glass Is Over $800.00 So I'M Surely Not Going That Route. Any Suggestions.

the solder separated and it "can't be fixed"?

what kind of do-it-yourselfer would take that for an answer?

(kidding) seriously though before you break out your soldering iron, check out http://www.ford-trucks.com -- a very active owners forum, not affiliated with ford motor co.

Replacing Front Passenger Side Window On My Jeep - Advice Needed!?
I'M About Halfway Through A Repair Job On My Jeep. Some Scumbag Broke Into My Open Car (Couldn'T He At Least Have Tried The Door First!?) By Busting My Front Passenger Side Window. Anyways, Its A 4 Door, And The Passenger Side Window Has That Smaller Triangular Window Too, But It Went Unharmed. So, I Bought The Corresponding Square Window From A Junk Yard, Cleaned It Up, And Got To Work. So, I Took Off The Paneling And Easily Got To The Track That The Window Screws Into. I Unscrewed What Was Left Of The Old Window, And I'M Primed To Install The Replacement. It Hasn'T Been Too Bad So Far, But I Feel Like I'M Going To Have To Remove That Triangular Section First. Is That Right? Also, Will I Be Wasting The Gasket, Or Can The Window Slide Through It As I Reinstall It? Lastly, The Window Goes Back Down The Same Way It Does When You Roll It Back Up, Right? Any Advice From This Point Would Be A Huge Help; Putting Everything Back Together Won'T Be A Big Deal, It'S Just The Final Installation That Is A Pain. Oh - And One Last Thing, Do I Need A Special Washer Or Something For The Screw That Locks The Window Into The Holder? The Replacement Just Came With A Bolt Coming Out Of The Window Which Will Need A Nut To Secure It To The Bracket - So I Imagine I'Ll Need A Special Washer So The Window Doesn'T Shatter?

Yes, if your jeep is the same as my truck you will need to remove the vertical bar that holds the triangle portion of the window.

Take this out along with the guide that's goes down into the window. it looks like a "4" when you take it completely out. Then put the replacement window in first, then roll that window down ( don't fasten everything completely). Then slide the triangle part in ( fit everything in place including the glass into the guide) and then start tightening everything.

As for the gasket, it should be ok, just take it easy...
