Ways that truck glass varies from normal auto glass.

  • Semi truck drivers are instructed to avoid following other big rigs that generally kick up rocks on low-quality highways and roadways.
  • Prevention is key and truck drivers comprehend that. Thus, they generally park in safeguarded areas.
  • Truck drivers are specialists. When they do get a chip or crack in their windshields, they get it fixed as soon as possible.

Semi truck drivers and big rig truck drivers will hold commercial insurance. Commercial truck insurance will have different levels of tolerable equipment conditions than standard car insurance policies. Whenever a truck driver sees a glass issue, they have to get it repaired immediately. This will keep their truck in really good standing with the commercial insurance policy. Big rig windshields are constructed to last. However, if you operate a commercial truck or van, you know that the risk you will face of damage as you log a lot of highway miles is a bit more than the risk a driver of an economy car will face.

Windshield FAQ

85 Chevy Electric Windows.?
Ok, I Have An 85 Chevy Truck, I Have Electric Windows, And Recently I Have Been Having Problem Where Sometimes The Windows Will Go Down And Up, Sometimes They Wont, Only Way To Make Sure Was To Grab The Window And Help It Along. Sometime It Will Stop Going Up Or Down Mid Way And Wont Go Anymore, But Will Later. Now, My Drivers Window Is Down And Wont Even Start To Come Back Up. I Have Heard That The Switched Sometimes Go Bad In These Old Chevys, Wondering If You All Had Any Insight As To Weather It Might Be A Switch Or The Motor? And About What A Motor Replacement Would Cost.

it could be the switch, it could be the motor or it might even be the ground. if you know someone with a testing meter, test to see if you have a good connection to the switch, if it is the ground you will have to remove the door panel to check it. the door panel will have to be removed if it is the motor. I would try the switch 1st. then work from there. You might want to grease the gears and track also.

Most Reliable Car With Excellent Gas Mileage And Low Maintenance?
I Currently Have A Chevy Truck. It'S Super Awesome And Reliable. But It'S Just So Darn Big. Im A Student Business Major And Headed In The Direction Of Landing An Office Job. Other Than The Once A Year Or So When I Move The Huge Truck Bed Is A Nuisance. I Like The Prius But I Cant Afford A New Model. I Have About 6000 Dollars Worth Of Trade In Value For My Truck. What'S A Good Small Car That Could Tow A Uhaul Once Or Twice A Year Or Strap A Bed To The Top?Needs To Get Good Gas Mileage And Not Have An Expensive Battery That Will Crap Out As Soon As I Buy It(Older Prius Models) Thank U.

A Prius will fit most of the bill, with money left over from buying gas to rent a truck once or twice a year (that's what I do). Don't be afraid of the batteries - my 2002 Prius is right at 150K miles now on the original battery and shows no signs of battery weakness. Very few do (see the first source). We actually have two 2002 Prius in the family and neither has needed any repair except replacement of windshields broken by rocks (normal for Arizona), tires and windshield wipers. The brakes are original and less than half worn. They are by far the most reliable cars we have owned in 40 years.

However, the 2004 and later model years are better. More power, more room, better fuel economy (we only get 45 mpg around town, about the same on the highway).

1992 Ford F250 Has Lost Its 4Th Gear?
Im Looking To Buy This Truck, And There Are A Few Minor Problems With It. The Cost Of The Truck Itself Is $800 And I Will Need About $400 To Register. I Will Also Have To Replace The Passenger Window Motor And The Drivers Inside Door Handle. I Estimate That To Be Around $300Ish Total (If Im Wrong Please Let Me Know) Then The Listing Says The Transmission Has Lost Its 4Th Gear. Can Someone Please Explain To Me What This Means, And How Much It Would Cost To Fix It? I Would Like To Get A Total Estimated Cost Of This Truck Before I Go And Look At It In Person, Thanks ! (:

honestly, and I'm not trying to sound like a jerk here, but this truck only sounds good for those that can do their own repairs to it- and then, still not for anywhere near $1200.

What wrong with 4th gear could be different depending on if it is a standard transmission or an automatic, but both could be pricey. Window motor will run about $80 plus labor, and the handle could be bought at a junk yard for probably around $25.

Why will it cost so much to register? Sounds like it may not be registered now. Is it? If no, why not? Will it not pass emissions/safety inspections?

My advice is to find something else to buy.
