An Hvac Technician Replaced A Dead Start/Run Capacitor With Another One (For My 24 K Btu Window Ac) That Has Different Voltage Rating But Same Microfarad. He Told Me It'S Perfectly Ok Since The Microfarad Is The Same. Is That True?
It's true if the voltage of the one he put back in there is rated for a higher voltage. If it was rated lower, then it will fry. Ufd is actually the important value, the voltage rating has to be at least that of the operating system but can be rated higher, just never lower. In fact a higher voltage rated one just may last a little longer if you live in a hot environment.
Because your system is 220 volts, the 370 volt capacitor will run OK in there. In fact I would venture to guess that it most likely came from the factory with a 370 volt Cap in it. Most likely someone since then put the 440 volt one in there due to your high ambient temperature. The 440 volt capacitor will last longer in a high temperature environment. So it is safe to run the 370 volt Cap, but it will most likely go out sooner (maybe in a year or two) than if the tech had put a 440 in there. My guess is that he didn't have a 440 on his truck.
If you look on the schematic of the air conditioner, (usually glued to the inside panel of the electrical compartment), it will most often label the size and rating of the capacitor needed for the unit. You can't very well require the guy the come back out and change it without extra cost if he put in there what is on the schematic. IF, you purchased collision coverage, then your insurance will either fix or total your car, minus your deductible. They will pay at fault or not at fault.
IF, the repairs exceed on average of 75% of the fair market value, then by law, the insurance company must total it and pay you fair market value minus your deductible.
Since it appears you did not purchase rental coverage, then if you need a car, you will be paying out of pocket yourself.
Now, IF, the semi driver is found at fault, the above applies, but, then there would be no deductible and the at fault insurance company would owe you a rental till they fix it, or offer you fair market value.
But, it appears from your description of the accident, that this could be a 50/50 (both at fault), or, they could find that BF is at fault and pay the semi driver's damages.
