Ways that truck glass varies from normal auto glass.

  • Semi truck drivers are instructed to avoid following other big rigs that tend to kick up rocks on low-quality highways and roadways.
  • Prevention is important and truck drivers recognize that. For that reason, they typically park in safeguarded areas.
  • Your big rig windshield cracks or chips are fixed as soon as possible.

Semi truck drivers and big rig truck drivers will have commercial insurance. Commercial truck insurance policies will have various levels of tolerable equipment conditions than regular car insurance policies. Whenever a truck driver sees a glass problem, they will need to get it fixed promptly. This will keep their truck in great status with the commercial insurance policy. The assembly of a truck's windshield glass is a little heavier duty than a car. Although that may be the case, trucks ordinarily log more highway miles than cars. Therefore the probability of experiencing a glass chip or crack is much higher.

Windshield FAQ

Crack On Windshield Got Worse?
My Car Had Like A 5 Inch Crack On The Right Side Of It From A Rock -- No Holes Just Like A Line....Well It Recently Iced And I Had No Other Choice But To Scrape The Ice Off And Now The Line Got Bigger And Now Goes All The Way Across My Windshield Near The Wipers....Is That Really Bad? It'S Not Like Water Can Come In But Will I Have To Get A New Windshield Or Use Some Type Of Glue?

Most cracks in a windshield will get worse no matter how many tries to repair them. In most states, you can get a ticket for a cracked windshield. Do you have a low deductable on your insurance? If so see if they can help. If not, try a place called Safelite Auto-glass. I have had several windshields replaced and they were always the least expensive.

Can I Use Nail Polish To Repair The Chip In My Windshield?

Not to fix it (the nail polish is nowhere near as strong as the glass it would be trying to hold together, like trying to fasten two trucks together with masking tape) but it can hide it. Many chips don't grow into cracks and I have no idea how to predict which will and which won't, but the chances are identical whether you put nail polish on or not. However, using nail polish may complicate a real repair if the chip starts to form a repairable crack.

How Do You Remove The Front Drivers Side Panel Off Of A 2003 Ford F-150?
The Night Before Last I Had Some *** Run Me Off The Road In My Truck And I Scraped The Front Drivers Side Panel Against A Small Tree. Its Not A Serious Repair, But Insurance Wants Me To Pay A 500 Deductible To Repair It When It Looks Like I Can Remove It Myself And Take A Soft Mallet To It And Pop Out The Dent. Im Having Trouble Removing It Though So I Thought I'D Ask Around Here. Any Response Would Be Greatly Appreciated.

I am alomost positive there are a some screws near the door handle. Also the majority of the time they have clips, once you remove the clips by force they never go back on as tight as when first installed. Go to the dealer and get new ones. They are not expensive. Once you have removed the screws and identified where the clips are, the door panel will need upward pressure to remove. Careful not to do it too hard because the wiring for the power windows is still conected. Good luck.
