Ways that truck glass varies from normal auto glass.
- To avoid rocks flying into the rig's windshields, truck drivers typically allow plenty of space between their rig and the truck ahead of them, especially on coarse roads.
- Semi truck drivers park in safe areas far from natural hazards or potential vandals.
- Your big rig windshield cracks or chips are fixed today.
One big distinction, however, is commercial vehicle insurance. In order to abide by higher insurance standards, truck drivers must get their glass fixed when they experience a problem. Click for Windshield Replacement Cost information.
Big rig windshields are built to last. Don't let that fool you. Although the glass may be more durable, trucks spend more time driving. For that reason, they are at increased risk of getting chips and cracks in their windshield.

How To Repair Windshield Chip?
I Got A Chip In My Windshield And Trying To Get It Fixed. I Didnt Get The License Plate Of The Truck Where The Rock Came From, I Tried To Get It Fixed From One Of Those Free Repair Trucks Near The Mall Because My Insurance Does Cover It, And I Tried Getting It Done At Jiffy Lube But I Guess They Only Have A Guy That Comes In Ever Blue Moon That Can Do Those Repairs. Im Not Interested In Doing It Myself Unless It Is Really Simple I Would Prefer To Just Get It Done Professionally.
Those kits you buy at auto stores are not worth the trouble. They are OK if you have an old junker and don't want the chip to go into a crack.....but they look like crap. Take it in to the pros. I had one done on my windshield and I swear...I thought they put in another windshield, because I couldn't see where it was fixed.

You can buy chepa chinese body panel replacements from various places (jc whitney is probably one) and for a mudder, who cares if it's thin metal that will rust easily? No point in spending good money on something that will get beat up again.
I Recently Got A New Windshield.?
I Just Got A New Windshield And There Are Ripples In The Glass. When I Drive I See Ripples Or Waves Cause By The Glass. It Is Also Casting Shadows When The Sun Shines Through It. Is This Normal??
Sound like your windshield was replaced with a cheap aftermarket defective unit. Seeing waves near the edge of the windshield is perfectly normal, but there should not be any in the center section of the glass. I would contact the company who installed the windshield and ask them to procure a replacement. I usually pay the extra money on top of my glass insurance claims to get OE or OEM glass for my vehicles just because of this issue.
