Here are some differences between truck glass issues vs. automobile glass issues.
- To prevent rocks flying into the rig's windshields, truck drivers typically allow lots of space between their rig and the truck in front of them, especially on harsh roads.
- Semi truck drivers park in safe areas far from natural hazards or potential vandals.
- Truck drivers are specialists. When they do get a chip or crack in their windshields, they get it fixed right away.
One major difference, however, is commercial vehicle insurance. To comply with higher insurance criteria, truck drivers must get their glass fixed once they experience a problem. Click for Windshields information.
The glass that goes into a truck is generally a little more tough as compared with a car's glass. However, if you operate a commercial truck or van, you recognize that the risk you will face of damage as you log a lot of highway miles is a bit greater than the risk a driver of an economy car will face.

How To Repair Windshield Chip?
I Got A Chip In My Windshield And Trying To Get It Fixed. I Didnt Get The License Plate Of The Truck Where The Rock Came From, I Tried To Get It Fixed From One Of Those Free Repair Trucks Near The Mall Because My Insurance Does Cover It, And I Tried Getting It Done At Jiffy Lube But I Guess They Only Have A Guy That Comes In Ever Blue Moon That Can Do Those Repairs. Im Not Interested In Doing It Myself Unless It Is Really Simple I Would Prefer To Just Get It Done Professionally.
Those kits you buy at auto stores are not worth the trouble. They are OK if you have an old junker and don't want the chip to go into a crack.....but they look like crap. Take it in to the pros. I had one done on my windshield and I swear...I thought they put in another windshield, because I couldn't see where it was fixed.

I Recently Got A New Windshield.?
I Just Got A New Windshield And There Are Ripples In The Glass. When I Drive I See Ripples Or Waves Cause By The Glass. It Is Also Casting Shadows When The Sun Shines Through It. Is This Normal??
Sound like your windshield was replaced with a cheap aftermarket defective unit. Seeing waves near the edge of the windshield is perfectly normal, but there should not be any in the center section of the glass. I would contact the company who installed the windshield and ask them to procure a replacement. I usually pay the extra money on top of my glass insurance claims to get OE or OEM glass for my vehicles just because of this issue.
