Windshield Repairs in Lower Saucon Township Pennsylvania
A lot of car parts seem to be mysterious for many. However, your car's windshield shouldn't be classified in that group. Although we do not give windshield very much thought, they are incredibly important.
Windshields are made utilizing laminated glass. They are made up of 3 layers, two outer layers of glass and a middle laminate layer.
The middle layer of the windshields are is normally made from a vinyl plastic component. In simple words, it is a very tough plastic. The vinyl plastic sheet has glue on both sides, sticking to the outer layers of glass. One of the basic objectives of this layer is to prevent the glass from shattering in an unsafe fashion.
Windshields installed in a manufacturing plant setting are done with robots, in a tightly controlled manner. Advanced alignment and positioning procedures make certain that both molding and windshield are accurately fitted. Windshield repair is necessitated right away if there is damage. When feasible, it is always recommended to have a repair done on the existing windshield, doing away with the need to replace it. If the damage is a small-scale chip or crack, this is practical. This is not feasible if the crack has stretched out, if the chip is in the car driver's field of vision or the chip is bigger that a coin.
If spotted early enough the good news is that a simple chip or little crack can likely be repaired by DIY solutions. We realize that this is an appealing option for many. However, due to the safety concerns, we recommend that even these straightforward repairs be dealt with by an auto glass technician.
Oftentimes, drivers will just ignore a little chip. Small-sized chips that are overlooked can become large fractures. We see this in exterior temperature swings. If this occurs, you will be dealing with a windshield replacement rather than a simple chip repair.

Is There A Difference Between The Glass That Was Put On Cars In The 60S And Auto Glass That Is Used Today?
I Have A 66 That Still Has All Original Glass In It. Wondering If The Glass Is Any Different Than Modern Glass? Is It Harder/Easier To Break?
I disagree with the first answer. I believe the windshield glass then and now is non-tempered plastic laminated glass and that the side and back windows are non-laminated tempered glass. Many back windows that have antennas and heaters in them have a plastic film that supports the broken glass but that is incidental. When you see a pile of broken glass fragments on the street, about 3/8" cubes, it is because someone has broken a tempered side window to steal stuff inside the car.
Glass Break Sensors/Car Alarms?
Ok, So In The Last Week There Have Been 2 Car Break-Ins In My Neighborhood And I'M Really Getting Paranoid (Too Many Valuable Things To Be Stolen)...Both Cars Had Their Windows Broken Into, So I Thought That I Would Just Go With Simple Glass Break Sensors, But How Effective Are They Really? I Only Have Like $150(Best If Under $100) To Spend And I Was Also Wondering What The Best Alarm System Would Be To Put On My Car (Pressure Sensors Maybe?) And Would Give Me The Best Protection From These Thieves. Sites, Brands, System Names, And Prices Would Be Nice :)
my theory is if they broke a window and no1 heard it, is some1 gunna hear your alarm? what if you spend 300 on sensors and they dont work, then u got robbed twice... i would put an l.e.d. right were any1 walking by can see it so they know there is theft protection. maybe a led scanner like on knight rider.. clearly visable, thieves tend to break into cars with no alarm..
Can Lightning Break Car Glass?
No, it can't.
I Just Hit Someone Today Now I Don'T Have A Car....What Can I Expect?
Riding Along Today, Heading Home From Work. Doing The Speed Limit And Someone Decides To Run A Stop Sign And Pulls Out Directly In Front Of Me And I Smash Into Him At About 40 Mph. It Is Definitely His Fault, I Have 4 Witness'S That Gave Statements To The Police That He Ran The Stop Sign. There Is No Doubt That It Is His Fault.
My Car Got Pretty Bashed Up, Enough So It Was Leaking Fluid (I Am Guessing Coolant) Out From Underneath The Car. It Also Hit Hard Enough To Deploy Both Airbags, My Windshield Was Shattered From The Force Of The Passenger Airbag! They Towed The Car Back To The Towing Yard After The Accident And I Had To Get A Ride Home Tonight. If Someone Has Been In This Situation Before, What Tips Or Pointers Can You Give Me So I Can Stay Better Informed As I Start To Deal With Insurance Companies, Tow Yards, Etc. I Am A Pretty Smart Person And Know How To Handle Myself In These Situations Better Than Most. Just Hoping For Some Tips On What To Do, What Not To Do.
I Did Not Get Injured In The Crash, However The Airbag Deployed And Hit My Wrist Which Is Bruised Up And Hurting Right Now. And As I Am Typing This, The Right Side Of My Neck Is Starting To Hurt More And More As The Day Goes By.... Any Tips Would Be Great.
Also As A Side Note. The Officer Didn'T Give Me A Police Report. (I Live In Fort Lauderdale Florida By The Way). He Gave Me A Drivers Exchange Of Information And Said The Police Report Will Not Be Available For Another 7-10 Working Days...Not Sure What That Means But I Have No Written Proof That The Other Driver Was At Fault At This Time. Thanks In Advance!!!
First of all, get yourself checked out medically. The force of the airbag could have caused more damage to your wrist, and the neck pain could also be the sign of serious injury.
You will want to contact both your insurance company, and the company that insured the other driver. Seeing as the other driver is at fault, they should provide you with a rental car while your car is being repaired.
Depending on your car, and the damage, it may be considered a total loss. The insurance company will them pay you replacement value for your car, and you will have to buy another vehicle. If you owe more on your car than it is currently worth (before damage) you would have to pay the difference off yourself in cash.
