Windshield Repairs in East Allen Township Pennsylvania

Your car's windshield does not belong with the incomprehensible, under hood car parts. Like other things in life, when your windshield is working correctly, we don't ever think of it. On the other hand, when there is an issue, it turns into an emergency concern.

Windshield glass is a form of laminated glass. They are composed of 3 layers, two outer layers of composite glass and a center laminate layer.

In many cases the inner layer is made of vinyl plastic. In simple terms, it is a very tough plastic. This inner layer sticks to both outer layers. This is the grounds of how laminated safety glass is constructed. It will protect against a windshield from shattering into unsafe glass fragments.

Original manufacturer's windshield installation is a highly robotic and computer-controlled method in the assembly line of automobile production. Electronic alignment and placement procedures assure that both molding and windshield are precisely fitted. Damaged windshields are a safety risk, therefore they need to be repaired when there are any signs of damage. Whenever practical, it is always recommended to have a repair done on the existing windshield, eradicating the need to change it. Usually this is an available solution if the damage is a little chip, starburst or crack. A new windshield will be called for when the crack has gotten too large to repair or if the chip or crack is in the field of view of the driver.

If discovered early enough the bright side is that a small chip or little crack can very likely be fixed by do-it-yourself methods. We recognize that this is a desirable option for many. However, due to the safety concerns, we urge that even these types of simple repairs be handled by an auto glass technician.

Oftentimes, car owners will overlook a tiny chip. However, if not taken care of immediately, the problem can become worse.

Windshield FAQ

How Much Would It Cost To Repair A Paint Chip On A Car?
I Have To Repair Damage I Inflicted On Two Different Cars. The Owners Of The Cars Are Going To Get Them Fixed And Mail Me The Bill. I Am Curious How Much I Can Expect The Bill To Be. They Obviously Wont Buy Some Paint And Do It Themselves So That They Only Would Have To Spend $20. They Are Taking The Car In To An Auto-Body Shop To Have The Work Done I Believe. An Estimate Is Fine. Car 1 - Silver Mercedes Gl450 (New Car) There Is A Crescent-Shaped Paint Chip On The Hood, No Longer Than 1 Inch And Length And 1/3 Inch In Width. Car 2 - Black Lincoln Town Car (2006) There Is A Crescent-Shaped Paint Chip On The Passenger Door, No Longer Than 1 Inch And Length And 1/3 Inch In Width. Thank You For Info.

Owners of expensive cars like these won't do the work "themselves" because they don't want to see where the repair was made so, they take it to a professional who can do the repair and make it so you'd never know there was damage.

Expect each repair to be in the hundreds of dollars since they will have to repaint the entire hood on Car 1 and paint the entire door to match the original paint on Car 2.

Do you think there is any chance it'll be more than $2,000 for both of the cars?

It could possibly get that high depending on the specialty repair shop they take it to (we are, after all, talking about a "new" Mercedes) and how hard it will be to match the original paint but I doubt it would be more than that.

Is It True That Having Your Car Windshield Replaced Makes It Unsafe?
I Bought A Car That Has A Chip With Spider Cracks On The Windshield Right In My Line Of Vision. So I Called Up A Windshield Place And Asked About Getting It Replaced And They Said They Prefer To Do Repairs Because Replacing The Windshield Makes It Unsafe To Drive. They Said In Case Of An Accident The Replaced Windshield Will Pop Out And Cause The Roof Of The Car To Fall In Or Send The Passengers Out The Window Because Only The Original Factory Seal Prevents This. Please Advise If This Is Indeed The Case. I Want To Make The Right Decision And Get This Taken Care Of Immediately.

i used to work in a glass shop and a body shop, i have put many windshields in . and seen some pop out in a collision but 90% of the ones involved in a collision was factory installed windshields they will all pop out in a severe collision, The factory seal is the same as a replacement seal. if it is done properly. all of your glass shops are supposed to meet regualtions on this, not saying all do. I can say it is easier to remove a factory windshield than to remove a replacement. your dealer ships replace them every day, upon arrival, they are sometimes damaged during shipping.so there is no real guarantee it hasnt already been replaced, its safer to drive through a clear view than a busted cracked glass, sounds to me like the shop has doubhts in thier work , some places do not have the staff, the equipment to replace them and do not want the hassle and the job of doing a job that they dont feel comfortble with but they dont want to loose a $ so they want tell you that. so i would strngly recomend going to another shop. ask your dealership, .. just choose the best shop and repairs do not take the cracks away they just stop them from spreading further. if it is in your view it will not pass state inspection for a inspection sticker. just make sure the shop uses factory glass not a generic replacemnt. this could indeed cause the above .. but the proper glass for that car and installed correct . will stay in as good as the original .. i can promise you that... good luck. and just a point of advice if it was the case of this during a collision what risk would u rather take? if you drive with the current spider cracks obstructing your view you are more likely have a accident correct? now if you replace it and its done correctly . are you as likley to have a collision? and most car accidents doesnt cause windshiled damages, and if the passenger is wearing the seat belt will he or she go thru the windshield? and if not wearing glass or no glass the passenger will not be stopped by the glass, in a sever accident. so i would strongly suggest telling this shop where to stick it. and go else where. and one other thing if the collision is sever enuff you think the glass is gonna be strong enough to keep the roof up? you can take the wind shiled out and have same results.... I have heard all excuses of being in the wrong business but these guys sureley is in wrong kind of business. LOL sorry so long of a answer .. hope you make the correct decision. good luck.

How Do I Correct Windshield Wipers Not Staying In Contact With Windshield?
I Just Replaced The Windshield Wipers For My Car (Full Blade Assembly, Not Just Blades) And Have Just Had My First Need To Use Them. The Passenger Side Wiper Barely Contacts The Windshield And The Driver'S Side Is Not Much Better. Long Story Short, The Wipers Don'T Contact The Windshield Near Hard Enough, When At All. How Do I Correct This Without Having To Pay Out The Wazoo? Off Hand I Don'T Remember The Brand, But I Believe They Were Bosch And I Believe The Problem Not To Be In The Wiper Blade And Assembly Replacements But That The Problem Was Likely Present Before I Got The Car. How Does One Fix This Problem? For What It'S Worth, These Are On A 1984 Camaro Sport Coupe

Remove the blade assembly and place the arm back in position. It should touch the windshield and have a good tension toward the glass. If not, grip the lower part of the arm firmly in one hand and bend the upper half toward the windshield about 1/2". Do another 1/2" if the first bend does not work. The most likely reason is someone vandalizing the wipers when the dealer had it. Also check if the mount end of the arm is twisted out of position. Use a pliers to correct.
