Due the tight installation method as described previously, the most effective strategy is to have the fix done on the original windshield, in place. If the damage is a small chip or crack, this is possible. This is not feasible if the crack has stretched out, if the chip is in the driver's field of view or the chip is bigger that a coin.

Little chips or cracks may be repaired with any number of windshield repair kits that are available for purchase today. We recognize that this is an enticing option for many. However, because of the safety concerns, we urge that even these kinds of straightforward repairs be addressed by an auto glass expert.

Windshield FAQ

Normally How Much Does Getting Your Front And Back Windshield Replaced Cost?
Well My Boyfriend Just Bought A Little Car, But He Got It For Cheaper Just Because The Windshields In Front And Back Were Broken Out By *****. I Was Just Wondering, How Much May This Cost? I'M Just Wondering. Thank You! (:

Since no one knows the year, make or model of the car in question, it's very unlikely that you'll get an accurate guess as to the cost of repairs for both front and rear windows.

Call a glass shop in your area and ask them how much it would cost to have them both replaced.

Broken Passanger Car Window. Will Insurance Cover This?
I Live In Fl, And I Am Insured Through Geico. The Very Minimum Coverage. Just Legal To Drive Basically. I Got Into My Car Today And Noticed My Front Passanger Window Completelty Shattered And Only Held Together By The Tint. I Filed A Claim Through Geico And They Said I Wasn'T Covered. I Remember Hearing Something About If You Live In Fl Your Window Is Replaced, Free. No Matter What. Is That For Just The Windhield, Or A Myth? Also, How Much Does It Typically Cost To Replace Side Window?

In order to have coverage for your glass - you have to purchase comprehensive coverage.

When they say glass is free - that means the comprehensive deductible is waived for glass only losses.

It does not mean they provide coverage you did not purchase.

If you just have the state required coverage - that means you have liability only and do not have comprehensive coverage.

It should be a couple of hundred dollars to get the glass replaced.

Were Can I Find A Glass Windshield That Can Ship Internationally?
I Am Looking For A Glass Windshield For My Car.

Probably will not find one since they do not meet government standards in the USA.

Estimate The Price Of My Car'S Repairs?
My Car Is A 2002 Chevy Impala. I Need: - A New Radiator Support (My Radiator Is Being Held Up By Rope-Not Good) -New Windshield Wiper Motor (My Wipers Work, But, When Turned Off, They Stop In The Middle Of My Windshield) -At Least 3 New Tires (4, If Cheaper) -My Radio Unlocked (Chevy Estimated It Would Take A Half An Hour For Them To Call The Manufacturer And To Unlock It So They Priced It At $50) Also, The Driver'S Side Glass/Plastic That Guards My Left Light/Blinker Is Completely Cracked. I Taped It Up With Translucent Yellow Tape From Autozone. So If You'Re Very Educated About Cars And Can Tell Me How Much Each Of These Things Will Cost Me, That'D Be Nice. Also, If You Have Any Idea Where I Can Get Them For Cheapest, Please Let Me Know. My Friend'S Dad Can Put In My Radiator Support For Me, But I Would Have To Get The Wiper Motor Replaced At A Shop So I Realized There Is Labor Fees With That.

In Illinois, a typical mechanics labor rate is 65.00 per hour. Try to lean more towards the mom and pops type of small business shops. These small businesses are much more grateful to have your business and usually tend to be cheaper on labor fees due to lower overhead and corporate pressure to sell more.

If you can have someone do some of this work for you, great! Wipe out the labor fees completely.

GREAT places to start are as followed:

believe it or not:

amazon.com - Usually tend to be cheaper than most automotive places by default. They feature merchant sellers as well as from amazon direct which means that you will have several buying options. I have purchased new headlights and side marker lamps from amazon before at less than half of the cost it would have ran me at other sources.

advanceautoparts.com - I would say that 75% of the parts I order for my vehicle come from this site and this store. If you have an advance auto parts nearby, GREAT. Don't do your shopping there though. Shop online. Before you complete your order though, visit retailmenot.com and type in advance auto parts in the search results. Be ready to save yourself a bare minimum of 15-20% or even 40-50.00 off of orders of a certain price. Much cheaper than buying in store. I do this all of the time. Why get 1 part for 80.00 when I can have 2 for 70.00? Just choose store pick up at checkout and they will have your stuff ready for you.

Although these sites are great, you likely won't find a radiator core support at a site like this. Search via Google, or, Yahoo parts for your 02 Impala. There are places like partstrain.com, partsgeek.com, etc. that will have the more hard to get parts. Want to save big bucks? Since you have someone to install one for you, visit a junk yard and have him remove one from the yard if possible. I got 2 front seats for my Ford Truck that were leather and Eddie Bauer seats for a cool $25.00 a piece. Nothing broken, no tears, etc. You'd be surprised at what you can get there for a small fraction of the cost.

A wiper motor is not hard to install at all. Just did this a few months ago on my truck.

Seriously, do a search on yahoo or google and type in something along the lines of "chevy Impala forum" look for your generation (year range) of your vehicle and you'd be surprised at the information that you can pull from those forums. They are people just like you that have been there done that. Usually they are nice and straight forward and will tell you how "hard/easy" the processes should be. If they are thorough, you will basically have an instruction booklet with photos at your arsenal.

You light should cost you much or take you long at all to fix.

Radio - No clue about that, never been through that, sorry. $50.00 doesn't sound bad compared to the alternative of buying a new head unit and having it installed. Personally, to have to "unlock" a radio?!? I'd buy the head unit and never have to worry about that again.

Tires can vary in price. Visit www.tirerack.com. Input your information, select price low to high, and take it from there as a GREAT starting point to see what you are up against. Shop around though, don't think that's your best bet. The last set of tires I purchased was at a place called farm and fleet up here in northern IL and they had a buy 3 get 1 free sale PLUS I opened up a credit card and they knocked 10% off of my first purchase. Paid of the card the next day, had my way and got 4 SUV tires mounted, balanced and new valve stems put in for less than $400.00. That's a steal, considering they are P265/75R15 tires. Your's will be much smaller so expect to pay less for the tire itself seeing it's less material cost. It's always a good idea to have 4 MATCHING tires on a vehicle. You wouldn't wear two separate shoes on your feet even if they were the same size, would you?

Looks like a new wiper motor is 112.99 at advance auto parts. Take into consideration the retailmenot.com 40.00 off 100.00 or more and your wiper motor will now be reduced to 72.99. Not bad huh?

Headlight assembly runs anywhere from 42.00-54.00 at amazon.com. Not too horrible.

Turns out they do have a core support on amazon.com for the 3.4 liter engine. Don't know if thats what you have but its 215.00 with free shipping. I personally think you can do better than that at a junk yard. Probably set you back a $50 dollar bill. They might even pull it for you depending on legality. Not too bad eh?

Tire rack.com has your tires priced FROM as low as 70.00 a piece. $280.00 for a set of 4 UN-MOUNTED. Looks like you'll be paying roughly about $400.00 after labor is included. Shop around my friend.
