Windshield Repairs in Catasauqua Pennsylvania

The windshield does not belong with the mysterious, under hood car parts. Though we do not give windshield a lot of thought, they are very vital.

Windshields are made using laminated glass. They are made using a layering technology. The outer layers are glass and the inner layer is a special laminate.

The laminate normally is made from a sort of vinyl plastic. In simple words, it is a very tough plastic. The laminate serves as a sticking layer for the inner and outer layer of glass. One of the basic functions of this layer is to keep the glass from shattering in a dangerous manner.

Windshields installed in a manufacturing plant setting are done so with robots, in an extremely controlled manner. When done this way, the fit is very precise. Learn more about Catasauqua cheap window replacement cost from your local repair professional.

Damaged windshields are a safety hazard, therefore they should be serviced once there are any indications of damage. Due the tight installation method as described above, the very best procedure is to have the repair work done on the original windshield, in place. If the damage is a small chip or crack, this is feasible. A brand new windshield will be called for when the crack has gotten too large to repair or if the damage is in the visual field of the driver.

Currently there are various windshield repair kits on the market that handy people can choose to fix their own windshields. If you are not comfortable carrying this out yourself, then we advise going to a windshield repair shop right away.

Some people disbelieve the value of a chip repair. Little chips that are discounted can turn into large fractures. We see this in exterior temperature swings. If this occurs, you will be looking at a windshield replacement instead of a basic chip repair.

Windshield FAQ

Weather Stripping Around Front Windshield Popped Out Of Place After Windshield Replacement?
I Had The Windshield Replaced On My '06 Forester By Safe Lite About 3 Weeks Ago. Everything Seemed Fine Until Yesterday. The Weather Stripping On The Passenger'S Side Of The Car Came Loose And Was Flapping In The Wind. I Was Only Going 70Mph On The Highway. I Stuck It Back In And Now It Makes A Whistling Sound. They Are Coming Back Tomorrow Morning To Fix It (It Is Warrantied By Them), But It Is Going To Rain Tonight (Figures Since We'Ve Been In This Big Long Drought In Nepa) And I Am Worried That Rain Will Get Into Places Where It Shouldn'T. Also, I Have A Ton Of Errands To Run And I'M Afraid That The Windshield Now Has Nothing Holding It In From The Front, So I'M Not Going To Go Driving Unless It Is Completely Safe. I Know The Actual Windshield Itself Is Sealed Against The Car, But Does The Weather Stripping Play A Part Too? The Guy On The Phone Said It Was Just Cosmetic, But I Want To Make Sure This Won'T Cause Bigger Problems...

The guy on the phone is right the moulding is just cosmetic design. The moulding is only there to cover the gap in the A pillar location. Basically you could drive without the top or side moulding and the rain will have no effect on the glass or leakage. The bond is from the glass and the adhesive where it's applied on the pinch weld. Don't worry at all it's going to be all fine, even in the rain.

Here'S An Example Of What I Mean Http://Media.Photobucket.Com/Image/Little%20Front%20Bumper%20Scratches%20White/Darkforcejackal/Dsc04435.Jpg Its Exactly Like That With The Stupid White Dots. Except My Car Is Red. Any Advice Or A Cheap Product Under Like 30$ That Can Help Spread And Finish Off The Paint Evenly?

If you have collision insurance, put in a claim. There is probably more damage than you can see by just looking at the car. Take the car to a repair shop and get a detailed estimate to see just what needs to be replaced or repaired.

Windshield Wipers In Snowstorms?
In Vermont I Have Noticed That Some People Lift Their Winshield Wipers Up After Getting Out Of Thier Cars Before A Snow Storm Is Forcasted. What Is The Beneift Of This? Also, Is There A Way To Prevent The Ice From Forming So Thick On The Windshield?

they do this to prevent the windshield wipers from freezing to the windshield. you could place a sheet of plastic over the windshield to prevent the ice from sticking to the glass. they used to make a product called Ice Blocker, but i would not recommend it because it left a film on the windshield that was hard to see through. you can get an additive to add to your windshield washer fluid to lower the freezing point from -20 to -35 degrees. they also make winter blades that are totally covered in a rubber booties like thing but they are 7-9 bucks apiece just for the blade
