Windshield Repairs in Allentown Pennsylvania
Your car's windshield is not like other, more mysterious car components. While we do not give windshield much thought, they are extremely essential.
Many do know that windshields are made of several layers of glass. They are composed of 3 layers, two outer layers of glass and a center laminate layer.
The inside layer of the windshields are is normally made from a vinyl plastic element. The vinyl plastic sheet has glue on both sides, sticking to the outer layers of glass. One of the key functions of this layer is to prevent the glass from shattering in a hazardous manner.
Original manufacturer's windshield placement is a highly robotic and computer-controlled process in the assembly line of automobile production. Computerized alignment and installation procedures make sure that both molding and windshield are perfectly fitted. Learn more about Allentown window installation from your local repair professional.
Damaged windshields are a safety hazard, therefore they have to be repaired as soon as there are any indications of damage. When possible, it is always suggested to have a repair done on the original windshield, eliminating the need to replace it. Provided the damage is small, like a small chip or crack, this is practical. If a crack has elongated, or a bigger object has badly cracked your windshield it means it is time for an investment in a new windshield.
Small chips or cracks might be fixed with any number of windshield repair kits that are for sale today. Although this is an option, we still suggest that these basic patches be taken care of by an auto glass service center.
Lots of people doubt the value of a chip repair. This is a bad idea. Small chips can absolutely turn into larger problems that require a total replacement.

Read your policy. Normally, comprehensive coverage covers glass replacement (usually with a deductible). However, in some places, with some policies, glass is on it's own policy or rider.
Chances are pretty darn good your policy covers glass, but I bet you either pay your comprehensive deductible, or perhaps a deductible that applies only to the glass. If you don't understand your policy, call your insurance broker. I am a licenced broker, HOWEVER the companies and policies I have handled, and the options for glass are not the same as yours.
On my own vehicles, I once had a $600 window shot out, believe it or not. I had a $500 deductible, however, I found a used one for $75, and it cost me $75 to have it installed by a glass dealer.

First off if you use the passengers door window control switch does the drivers side window try to move when you're in fact trying to use the passengers door switch to put up the passengers side front window? This would tell you if the circuit itself is messed up or if the main master window control switch is acting up etc.Example if the passengers front window works okay without any windows acting up via the switch on passengers side then you know the master switch must be faulty.
So try the different window control switches and work from there but keep in mind sometimes a lot of moister or rain or snow gets into the switches that are by the windows we tend to use the most.Again if the windows act up via the master switch only try another switch before ever investing into possible 100 bucks an hour huge electrical diagnostic/trouble shooting labour and repair costs.I'am sure that you could pop out the master control switch yourself or some auto parts stores will do it for you for free if you purchase the replacement part from them. Some school automotive shops will such work for free or the cost of parts so keep that in mind.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if it's only a matter or replacing a switch the shop shouldn't charge for more then 30-60 mins of labour but if you've ground wiring issues going to the switches or the window motors then the cost could go way up to 2-3 hours of labour or more.
I'd go over all the fuse chart info you have handy in the owners manual or on the fuse box covers etc and be sure that anything related to the windows is okay, then from there if it is really the Master switch then why not call/go to a U pull auto wreckers and pull one for as little as 5-20 bucks and try it on the spot.Again remember the moister can affect the electric windows especially their grounds so if you know anybody handy with that stuff get them to try cleaning and maybe changing the grounds.
